legacy

Charlie's Bar, a legacy named after Charlie Burns, has been the beacon of hospitality for generations. From its early days of serving farmers, locals, and American troops during the war, the bar has stood as a testament to timeless camaraderie and service.

Frequently asked questions

  • Can we bring decorations or personalise our space?
Absolutely! If you'd like to decorate your table or bring something special for the group, just give us a heads-up and we’ll make sure everything’s set up for your arrival.
  • Can we combine packages?
Yes – many of our guests mix and match! For example, you could enjoy a cruise followed by Paint by the Pints, or do a Jiving class and follow it up with a candle-making session the next day. Let us know what you're thinking and we’ll help make it work.
  • Do we have to be a hen party to book these?
Not at all! These packages are perfect for birthdays, family get-togethers, girls’ weekends, or just a fun day out. Everyone’s welcome.
  • Is there a minimum number of people needed?
No – there’s no minimum group size required. Whether you’re planning something small and chilled or a big celebration, we’re happy to help make it work. Just let us know your numbers when booking so we can get everything set up just right for your group.
  • Are the packages wheelchair accessible?
Yes – all of our packages can be adapted to be wheelchair friendly, with the exception of the Jiving/Line Dancing classes, which take place in our Upstairs Lounge (accessed via stairs). If you or anyone in your group has specific accessibility needs, just let us know when booking and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
  • Can we reserve a table or space in Charlie's after our activity?
All of our party packages include reserved seating at Charlie’s, so your group will have a space to relax and enjoy drinks, pizza, or live music after your activity. The only exception is the Jiving/Line Dancing classes, where seating is available on request – just let us know when booking and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
  • Is there a charge to hire the room? Do I need to pay a deposit?
Nope – room hire at Charlie’s Bar is completely free of charge. We don’t require a deposit either. We understand that plans can change, so if you do need to cancel, we’d appreciate as much notice as possible so we can offer the space to someone else.
  • Can I decorate the room?
Of course – we’d love you to make the space your own. You’re welcome to bring decorations and we’ll make sure you have time to get everything set up before your guests arrive.
  • Can we leave decorations or belongings and collect them the next day?
Definitely. You don’t need to worry about clearing everything away at the end of the night. Our team will take care of that for you, and if you’d like us to store food or decorations, we’re happy to keep them safe for collection the following day – just let a member of staff know.
  • Can we play our own music?
Yes! You can play your own music from your device – just let us know in advance so we can check connection compatibility. We also have Spotify available. If you’d prefer, you can send us a playlist ahead of time and we’ll have it ready to go when your guests arrive. That way, you’re not stuck using your own phone on the night.
  • Can you recommend live music or catering?
Absolutely – we’d be happy to help with both! For Live Music - Just let us know what you're after – whether it's a DJ, a solo singer, a band, or a Traditional Irish Session – and we can suggest a few options and give you a rough idea of costs. You’ll be responsible for booking and paying the act directly. For Catering - We can point you in the direction of trusted local caterers who know the venue and offer a range of styles and budgets. Whether you're after finger food, buffet-style options, or something a bit more formal, just drop us a message and we’ll send you some suggestions and menus.
  • Can we access the space before the event?
Yes, absolutely! You’re welcome to access the area ahead of your event for any setup or decorating. Just let us know your plans when booking and we’ll arrange a suitable time for access.
  • Is there parking nearby?
Yes. There is free on-street parking after 7pm, and you’ll also find Pay & Display parking just behind Charlie’s at Down/Market/Cross Street Car Park – reasonably priced and a short walk away.
  • Is the Upstairs Lounge wheelchair accessible?
The Upstairs Lounge is located on the first floor and is accessed by stairs, so unfortunately it is not wheelchair accessible. That said, our Main Bar is fully wheelchair friendly and includes a wheelchair accessible toilet. If you or any guests have specific accessibility needs, please don’t hesitate to get in touch — we’ll always do our best to help and make everyone feel welcome.
  • Can outside musicians join the Trad Session on a Sunday?
Absolutely – we love to see musicians coming from all over to join our weekly Trad Sessions. The Session takes place every Sunday, from 7.30pm and the more the merrier!
  • Can you reserve tables in the main bar downstairs?
We accept bookings for our Upstairs Lounge every Saturday night. However, if you are planning on visiting with a larger group (eight plus) on a different day and would like the security of having seats, send us a message/email and we will do our best to accommodate you.
  • Are you Dog friendly?
We are very proud to be Dog Friendly. If you do bring your four-legged pooch along with you, make sure to ask one of our friendly team for a Doggy Water Bowl and some treats!
  • Do you serve food?
Unfortunately, we do not serve food. However, you are welcome to order from Little Wing Pizzeria (next door to us) and they will deliver the pizzas in to your table in Charlie’s. Just ask a member of staff in Charlie’s for a Little Wing Menu if you are feeling peckish.
  • Are children allowed in the bar?
We are a child-friendly pub. A young person, accompanied by an adult, is welcome to be in the bar up until 9.00pm.
  • Do you have any Hen packages?
Yes, we offer a range of packages for Hen Parties. Please contact us on 02866325303 or info@charliesbarenniskillen.co.uk for a bespoke package and pricing. Each package includes a private bar, the option to play your own personalised playlist and reserved seating with Live Music in the evening.
